Purpose:
The Grade 3 Science/Social Studies Teacher will ensure student proficiency in Science and Social Studies. Teachers collaborate with their colleagues to develop personalized lesson plans and projects. The teacher is accountable for academic and emotional growth, and effective communication with parents, students, and school leadership. Teachers report to the Associate Head of School.
Effective classroom instruction
- Ensure mastery of content with a diverse elementary school student population using a personalized learning approach
- Engage in the development and delivery of instruction through the Project-Based Learning approach
- Provide instruction and coaching for students as they move towards proficiency in the 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, such as collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and communication
- Create rigorous and engaging instructional plans and prepare materials and classrooms for instructional activities
- Employ a variety of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies and instruments including the NWEA MAP assessments
- Systematically gather, analyze, and use relevant data to measure student progress, to inform instructional content and delivery methods, and to provide timely and constructive feedback to both students & parents
- Engage in academic and behavioral goal setting process with students
- Make lessons, projects, and grading practices transparent to students and parents
- Creative a positive classroom climate and support a school culture that celebrates diversity, innovation, and caring
- Create and implement behavior and academic intervention plans when necessary
Personal professional growth
- Participate in all school-sponsored professional development programs

BIA Charter School is a K-8 public charter school authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission. BIA uses a carefully crafted combination of research-based instructional methods including Project Based Learning, personalized learning, and computer coding for every student. Teachers have expertise in providing engaging and rigorous learning opportunities that prepare students for success in the complex, global 21st century world.
Position Summary:
Classroom teachers are responsible for providing research-based instruction aligned with the Georgia Standards. Teachers will integrate a variety of research-based and innovative resources and strategies to support instruction. Teachers will focus on literacy and math as critical foundations and create interdisciplinary learning opportunities while fostering 21st century skills in students.
Teachers work as a team member within the classroom, across the grade level team, and vertically with other grade levels. Teams of teachers will have the opportunity to plan together, attend professional development together, and perfect their craft as educators.
Teachers will administer a variety of assessments to monitor student progress, create open lines of communication with parents and/or guardians, and plan instruction.

Marketing and Communications Specialist
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Development and Communications Specialist is responsible for establishing and implementing annual and long-range development strategies in line with the school’s mission, values and brand, delivering on them through internal and external communications. The Specialist works in close partnership with school leadership to develop strategy and oversee execution of marketing efforts to attract and retain highly talented students and capitalize on market opportunities. This position also works closely with faculty, parents, and the Board of Directors.
The Development and Communications Specialist will ensure school adherence to the school’s identity and brand, facilitate admission and advancement marketing efforts, fundraising, media relations, digital media, graphics, and related internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful and have impeccable communication and leadership skills. The position requires a seasoned professional able to engage successfully with a large variety of internal and external stakeholders in our community.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and monitor existing marketing plans as needed with strategic long-term and tactile short-term objectives
- Evaluate, implement, and manage new media technologies to reach prospective and current students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, donors, and friends
- Develop and oversee media relations plans and campaigns, communications/releases and proactively seek out editorial and other media coverage
- Manage the creation of all marketing collateral and support pieces on behalf of the school
- Manage the area of social and digital media
- Maintain knowledge of marketing trends, developments, and best practices
- Participate as a member of the school’s admissions team
- Produce the school’s weekly communications, including newsletters
- Manage the school’s branding initiatives to ensure consistency of the school brand identity both internally and externally
- Assist with the school’s website to ensure timely enhancements and upkeep
- Oversee the school’s integrated social media strategy and create social media campaigns, blogs, web-casts, etc., for targeted audiences that support marketing plans and strategies
- Oversee market research and competitive analysis to ensure the school is effectively positioned amongst schools in the area
- Establish and maintain professional relationships amongst all levels of the school’s community while creating a collaborative environment
- Manage the school’s relationships with outside vendors for web, electronic communications, graphics designers, printing firms, photographers, etc.
- Collaboratively work to support the school’s comprehensive development plan
- Facilitate the school’s admission/enrollment initiatives, including tours, communication, and media
- Coach colleagues in marketing, writing, and publication skills
- Assist with event execution in support of alumni and development efforts
- Complete other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the school
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field is required
- 6-10 years of experience in marketing and communications in a professional environment, with three or more years in a supervisory role is desired
- Extensive experience in all aspects of Marketing and Communications, including brand, print, and digital marketing for various audiences
- Experience in development and student recruitment is desired
- Exceptional verbal, written, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and time management
- Creative leadership with an ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
- Understanding of admissions marketing and fundraising
- Capable of working with varying personalities
- Computer proficiency is required
- Website development and support experience, specifically with Word Press is desired
Required work hours
- Normal school hours (Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 3:30) are necessary to complete job duties, including occasional work during school events. 11-month employee.
Compensation:
- The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $65,000 annually.
