About Brookhaven Innovation Academy (BIA)

BIA is a public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia.  The school opened in August 2016 (grades K-6) and will reach full-capacity as a K-8 school in Fall 2018. BIA leaders and teachers are committed to creating a safe, caring, mutually respectful environments for all students. The curriculum at BIA is designed to prepare students by using a blend of stem-focused project-based learning (PBL), K-8 coding, and personalized learning for every grade level.

We will act as historians by reading and analyzing literary and informational texts about the lives and contributions of American historical figures. With this information, we will work in groups to create a timeline of how these figures impacted our country’s history.

Unlike traditional schools, BIA receives no funding for facilities, leaving the school at a distinct financial disadvantage.  School leadership has chosen to turn this adversity into an opportunity by adopting a signature fundraising program that builds on teaching community outreach to children while incorporating Project-based Learning.
