BIA BEARS ANNUAL FUND
The suggested donation amount is $600 per student or $50 a month; however, we encourage involvement from EVERY family and accept ANY size donation. Classes with 100% participation will receive a day to hibernate in their pajamas.
The first 3 teachers who have 100% classroom participation will receive a $50 gift card. The Annual Bear Fund supports the three T’s. Teachers, Technology & Training. This assures that all departments, classrooms, teachers, and students have access to the latest resources to meet immediate needs and for continued improvements and growth. Weekly updates will occur and the final announcements for Pajama Party winners will be made at the Halloween festivities. BIA Bears Don’t Hibernate! Please Make Sure To DONATE!
The BIA Annual Fund team will be hosting the Bear Fund Class Challenge beginning:
Tuesday, October 16th through Tuesday, October 30th.
The goal is 100% class participation.
WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND AND WHY ARE DONATIONS NEEDED?
As a Georgia public charter school, BIA receives significantly less funding than traditional public schools. While BIA is budgeted to operate solely on the state funds received, we are not okay with okay! We want to provide our children with the best education possible by investing in Teachers, Technology, and Training – all supporting a top tier classroom education. The BIA Annual Fund supports these initiatives. Our goal is to raise $300,000 during the 2018-2019 school year to keep our school on the cutting edge of STEM, coding for all students K- 8, and project based learning curriculum education.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ANNUAL FUND AND THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?
The Annual Fund supports annual operating expenses and classroom support through Teachers, Training, and Technology. The Capital Fund is a separate fund that will be used to secure a permanent location for BIA, as well as the IT, furniture and fixture investments needed to outfit the facility. HOW MUCH SHOULD I DONATE?
We are requesting donations of $600 per student. We realize not everyone will be able to contribute this amount, so we ask that those who can afford more increase their donation.
WHY IS THE SUGGESTED DONATION $600?
Based on conversations with school administration, $600 per student is the amount needed to provide the top tier support we desire for our students and teachers.

The Annual Fund supports the three Ts – teachers, technology, and training. These items directly impact the classroom on a daily basis.
I CAN’T AFFORD $600—CAN I STILL DONATE?
Absolutely! Each and every donation is extremely important. We are striving for 100% participation to showcase parent involvement and parent investment in our school. Please donate an amount that is meaningful to you.
IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes. BIA is a 501(c)(3) organization and your donations are tax deductible. We will send out all letters/receipts in January. If you have not received your receipt by February 1, please contact Jonathan Schwartz (firstname.lastname@example.org).

CAN I DESIGNATE HOW I WANT MY DONATION SPENT?
All donations to the Annual Fund will be spent wherever the need is greatest – Teachers, Technology, and Training—including classroom support. At this time, we are not allowing designation of funds to specific programs.

Donating is not compulsory; however, without your donations, BIA cannot offer the high caliber programs we all desire for our children.
CAN I SIGN UP FOR MONTHLY AUTO-PAYMENT?
Yes, you can set up automatic monthly payments using a debit or credit card. Monthly recurring donations will occur on the same day each month. For example, if you made a monthly donation on October 16th, 2017, your recurring donations will occur on the 4th day of month going forward.CLICK HERE
CAN I PAY IN PERSON AT SCHOOL?
Absolutely! You can hand deliver a check to Ms. Terri Potter or Ms. Tracy Islam. Please make checks payable to Brookhaven Innovation Academy and include student name/teacher, parent information, and parent email address so we can track your giving.
